Changing the Alpha Channel Settings of GFE Elements

Purpose:

This jobsheet walks the user through changing the Alpha channel settings to make it easier to view HS hazard events concurrent with GFE weather elements.

Tasks:

Setup

  1. Start Hazard Services on the GFE perspective
  2. Create a Hazard Event that is best viewed in the GFE perspective

Adjust GFE element Image settings

  1. Select a weather element from the GFE Grid manager (e.g. Hazards)
  2. Select the Hazard Event from the Console (it will highlight blue)
    1. It will be difficult to see the Hazard Event with the Hazards grid 
       
  3. In the GFE Spatial Display, right-click on the legend of the selected weather element and choose Imaging...

     
  4. This will launch a new dialog which has the image properties including the Alpha channel (transparency). Adjust the Alpha channel down until it is easier to see the Hazard Services hazard event. Close the window.
    1. A good setting seems to be between 40 and 60

       
  5. You can now view both the GFE Hazards grid concurrently with the Hazard Event.

NOTE: There does not seem to be a way to save these Image settings. It therefore needs to be done on a session-by-session basis and for any additional weather elements that you wish to view with Hazard Events.
