  • River Flooding
  • Summary
    • These refresher exercises are designed for forecasters to run through many of the basic applications of Hazard Services in practice mode.  The first exercise includes manipulating the console, issuing an areal flood advisory/follow-up/correction, issuing a flash flood warning/statement, issuing a flash flood watch and adjusting proposed counties, using the dam-break recommender to issue a non-convective flash flood watch, upgrading an areal flood advisory to a flash flood warning, transitioning a flash flood warning to an areal flood warning, and entering service backup. The second exercise has the student run scripts (send.csh and clear.ksh) at five different times to populate a fake forecast point and step through the life cycle of watch/warning/flood stage increase/cancellation.
