February 4, 2022:

Please see below for some changes affecting the LAMP webpages, the mailing list, and our contact information.

The LAMP informational web pages hosted on the weather.gov server will be transitioning to the NOAA Virtual Lab (Vlab). Please discontinue use of the LAMP weather.gov pages and instead use the LAMP VLab pages. This only impacts informational (static) LAMP web pages, and not the web pages that host real-time graphical depictions (i.e., images) or text bulletins of the LAMP or Gridded LAMP forecast guidance.

WHAT IS CHANGING:

The location of the static LAMP webpages: Basically, any LAMP web page that starts with weather.gov is being transitioned to Vlab.  The new LAMP home webpage is located at:

https://vlab.noaa.gov/web/mdl/lamp

Any bookmarks you have that point to the old web pages will have to be changed.  Please locate the corresponding page on the new site (the path structure has changed) and bookmark the new site.

On or about Monday February 7, 2022, redirects will be established on the soon-to-be discontinued LAMP webpages hosted on weather.gov  that will redirect you to the new locations of the pages on the VLab.

The mailing list:  The server that facilitated the LAMP mailing list was discontinued some time ago.  We have now created a mailing list containing each user who was subscribed to that list and that is how future notices of changes, updates, and issues will be sent.  If you no longer wish to receive email updates about the LAMP guidance, please send an email to nws.lamp@noaa.gov with the subject: UNSUBSCRIBE LAMP MAILING LIST and your name will be taken off the list.

How to contact us: In the future, the best way to contact the LAMP Team is to send an email to:

nws.lamp@noaa.gov

Emails sent to this address will go to a number of people on the LAMP Team, which is a better mechanism for contacting us than emailing one individual as that individual may not be available or see your email promptly.

WHAT IS NOT CHANGING:

Non-LAMP weather.gov webpages: Non-LAMP weather.gov webpages are not being changed.  This only impacts LAMP webpages hosted on weather.gov.

LAMP graphics and bulletins: Links to the real-time LAMP graphics (i.e., images) and text bulletins are unchanged.  All links to real-time images and bulletins still go to the nws.noaa.gov server, so any bookmarks you have to real-time LAMP images and bulletins will be unaffected by this change, which only impacts the static, informational LAMP webpages.

NWS Webserver Data:  All operational data available on the NWS ftp and NOMADS websites and all links to those data are unaffected by this change.  For more information about the operational data available on the NWS servers, please refer to this web page:

Thank you for your interest in LAMP, and please let us know if you have any questions.
