Table 4: Projections for which the GFS LAMP guidance forecasts of probability of thunderstorms in a 2-h period and best category thunderstorm occurrence are issued.

Element Projection in Hours from Cycle Time

Probability of Thundstorms in a 2-h period

2-h periods ending every hour in the first 2-6 hours after issuance, and ending every even GMT hour thereafter out to 25 hours.

For example:

Odd start times have 2-h guidance valid from 1-3h, 2-4h, 3-5h, 4-6h, 5-7h, and then 7-9h, 9-11h, 11-13h, 13-15h, 15-17h, 17-19h, 19-21h, 21-23h, and 23-25h.

Even start times have 2-h guidance valid from 1-3h, 2-4h, 3-5h, 4-6h, 5-7h, 6-8h, and then 8-10h, 10-12h, 12-14h, 14-16h, 16-18h, 18-20h, 20-22h, 22-24h.

Best Category (yes/no) for thunderstorms occurring in the 2-h period

Same projections as for Probability of Thunderstorms above.
