Blended Hydro Products - Total Operational Weather Readiness - Satellites (TOWR-S)
Blended Hydro Products
About
The Blended Hydro Polar Satellite products flow over the Satellite Broadcast Network (SBN), and include hourly maps of Total Precipitable Water (TPW), Percent Normal TPW, and Rainfall Rate created from a blend of different polar satellites. These files also include Data Source (satellite) and Data Age (hours).
Limitations
Latency: Data is refreshed hourly, though the source data may be as much as 12 hours old.

Location: Satellite/Polar Derived Products Imagery/
Color Maps: Age of Observation (All), Satellite (RR/TPW), TPW: GOES-R/GOESR-L2/color-pw10-10; %TPW: Sat/Precip Water/Percent of Normal; RR: Sat/MW/nrlmicrorain_swaths
Sampling: Age of Observation (All): Hours; %TPW: %; RR/TPW: inches; Satellite (RR/TPW): Satellite
Quality Flags: N/A
Technique: TPW and Percent of Normal allow forecasters to anticipate the arrival of flooding rains because these products highlight atmospheric rivers. Rain rate is a useful product for regions with little or no radar coverage, such as mountainous regions where beam blockage occurs, or over oceans far from radar sites.
