Loading the 3 Panel Combo and Basics

Purpose:

This jobsheet covers how to load the 3 panel combo and basics from the new 23.4.2 Cross Sections.

Tasks:

 

  1. Open your desired radar menu and scroll to Cross Sections. Load a 3 Panel Combo Reflectivity.
  2. Right click and hold and Change Panel to 3x1.
  3. Using the arrow keys, tilt up and down in the storm. Notice how the CAPPI in the middle panel does not change.
  4. Right click and hold the legend in the CAPPI panel and select Time Match Basis.

    ***NOTE: This may take a few moments to load. Step back and forth a few times to make sure all the data has been loaded.
  5. Use the up arrow key to set the height to 25Kft, or something up higher (this could show things like storm overhang).
  6. Go to the All Tilts panel and right click on the legend to change back the Time Match Basis. Tilt down to compare overhang between CAPPI and 0.5.
  7. Right click on the two points you want to use to draw a baseline from left to right (A on the left, A’ on the right. If you mix these up, the cross section will show up backwards).

    ***NOTE: The cross section panel at the bottom will update after about 7 seconds. The CAVE status bar in the lower right will say “Awaiting further baseline changes” until it finishes updating.
