D2D TAF Display

Purpose:

This jobsheet reviews the new multicolor TAF Station plot in D2D.

Tasks:

Using the New Multicolor TAF Station Plot

  1. The new TAF Station Plot can be accessed in D2D by navigating to Upper Air -> Taf Station Plot.
  2. The hourly-resolution TAF Station Plot will appear on your screen. Each station icon is geolocated at the corresponding station. The information contained with the corresponding color-coding is:
    1. The Station ID is in PINK at the top right.
    2. The cloud cover is in WHITE in the center. NOTE: The sky cover is always white and is not color-coded by flight category as found on some websites.
    3. The visibility in statute miles is in BLUE at the top center.
    4. The ceiling height in 100s of feet above the surface is in YELLOW at right.
    5. The current weather icon is in PURPLE at left.
    6. The wind barb is in GREEN and shows sustained wind speed and direction. 
    7. The maximum wind gust is in RED at bottom.
  3. Sampling one of the station icons will print out the full TAF text in green, including different forecast times, though the TAF station plot is only hourly. Here is an example of sampling 19z KAGC:
