RAC WES-2 Bridge Materials Installation Guidance

Currently FY22 RAC requires WES17.3.1 which contains AWIPS 17.3.1 (contact Dale.Morris@noaa.gov for WES-2 Bridge support). Most sites already have the case installed from previous years, but WDTD distributes the base case install discs if needed. WDTD is manually installing updates to these cases in FY22, so everything should be ready to go when the class starts unless you didn't have the case installed.

1. RAC AWIPS Fundamentals and Applied Performance Drills Install Disc

  • AWIPS Fundamentals training is generally taken after the student completes VLab AWIPS Fundamentals early in the course to prepare for taking the AWIPS Proficiency Exam (recommended complete prior to 1 month before the workshop). 

  • RAC Applied Performance Drills training are generally taken after the student completes Convective Storm Structure and Evolution topic (prior to ILT online session mid way through the course)

2. RAC Workshop Primer Install Disc

  • Training is taken the week before the workshop.

  • FY22 classes
    • WDTD is installing the new severe workshop primer prior to the workshop

  • severe case - 2013May31_OUN_AFun_FY19 (severe used from AWIPS Fundamentals Install Disc) 

  • videos - accessed under Applications->WDTD->WDTD Training Resources menu using the following link name on the training page

    • "FY22v1 RAC Workshop Primer" on WES-2 Bridge where  - taken the week before the workshop

  • installation instructions provided on the installation disc (should install the month before the workshop, prior to the student taking the training the week before the workshop)

    • Note: the OUN case is not included with the primer disc (comes from RAC AWIPS Fundamentals and Applied Performance Drills Disc)
    • to retest a previous installation just load the first video in the training on WES-2 Bridge and follow along with D2D to verify the procedures used work and matches (see videos links above)
