Purpose:
This task demonstrates how to interrogate QPE, Ratio, and Diff.Tasks:
Assumptions:
- A FFMP Basin Table is loaded and the basins are displayed in the D-2D perspective.
- From the Layer menu in the FFMP Basin Table GUI, select All & Only Small Basins.
- This will display the QPE averaged over the basins with the entire domain visible.
- County Layer can be useful when searching for a specific basin, but that is more complicated due to the filter settings, so that will be left for later training.
- From the D2D menu select qpe, and change the Time Duration slider bar to 1.00.
- The FFMP table will display 1hr durations and the D2D will display 1hr accumulation.
- Sample the D2D to view the 1 hour accumulations.
- From the D2D menu select ratio.
- The FFMP table and the D2D will display a 1hr ratio of QPE/FFG.
- Sample the D2D to view the 1 hour ratio.
- From the D2D menu select diff.
- The FFMP table and the D2D will display a 1hr diff of QPE-FFG.
- Sample the D2D to view the 1 hour diff.
- Change the Time Duration slider bar to 4.00 to view 4hr durations and change the D2D display between qpe, ratio, and diff.
- Alternating between QPE, ratio, and diff for different durations is one of the primary tasks of using FFMP.
- Longer durations frequently reveal FFG being exceeded with training storms.
