Viewing Radar Cursor Readout Information

Purpose:

This task focuses on how to view the cursor readout information available for image products in the main display panel.

Tasks:

NOTE: Manual viewing of the cursor readout data is not active by default in CAVE. You can activate manual sampling in the Preferences GUI under the CAVE menu. Go to the CAVE menu, left-click on the “Preferences” item, and on the left side of the “Preferences” window which loads click on “Mouse” to display mouse settings. Then in the “Action” column, scroll down to find the “Sample” action, and click on it. In the “Event” pull-down menu select “Long Left Click” and then click “Apply” and “OK” to close the window. Then you can manually sample by performing a double left-click and hold (even with “Panning” enabled).

  1. Position the cursor in the main display panel away from any legends. Then right-click and hold and select Sample.Cursor sampling menu item
  2. Move the cursor to sample data from different areas in the main display.  Features to make note of when sampling radar data, for example, include the following:
    1. Other product-specific information (e.g. gate-to-gate shear, or velocity difference across two azimuths at the same range divided by beam width, with velocity).
    2. Radar name, and
    3. Azimuth/range from home location (for radar base data like Z, V, etc).,
    4. Above Ground Level elevation of beam center line,
    5. Mean Sea Level elevation of beam center line,
    6. Image product value(s),
