Purpose:
This task covers how you can change the different ways of lifting a parcel in the Skew-T diagram. There are two different methods for changing the parcel lifting method in NSHARP.Tasks:
Assumptions:
- A RAOB or a point model sounding is loaded.
- The Table Output Display is on the first page (common severe weather parameters). Use “PvDt” or “NxDt” buttons to cycle until this table is displayed.
- Method 1: In the Table Output Display, the first table in the display lists the CAPE, CINH, etc. of the different lifting methods. The lifting method currently being used is highlighted by a yellow box (see image).
- The default parcel lifting method is the most unstable (MU) parcel.
- Left-click on other parcels.
- Method 2:
- Left-click the Parcel button in the Control Buttons. This will launch the Parcels Display Configuration GUI.
- Left-click on the text or radio button of the parcel lifting method of your choice.
- Notice this updates the SkewT as you change the parcels.
- Left-click on the OK button in the GUI.
- Task Complete!
