Colleagues,

 

We recently announced the Memorandum of Understanding between the National Weather Service and the National Weather Service Employees Organization on the Intern Hiring Policy and the Internal Reassignment Process.  These programs streamline hiring processes with the objective of filling critical field vacancies.

 

Beginning July 25, 2016, Hiring Managers will have another method to fill vacancies using the new Internal Reassignment Process and I wanted to share with you the steps needed in order to participate in the program.  

 

Please keep in mind that the program is open to any NWS employee with a job series of 1301, 1315, 1340, 1341, 2210, 0856, 0802 or 0303.   In addition, employees must have been in their current position for at least nine (9) months.

 

If you meet the above criteria and wish to be considered for an internal reassignment, please take the following next steps:

 
  1. Within 21 calendar days from the date of this communication, go to NWS INTERNAL REASSIGNMENT PROGRAM  to complete and submit the required information for consideration. Identify the specific job series and location(s) (not to exceed five locations) for which you wish to be considered.

 
  1. After this period, you can add or change job series or locations during the two week period prior to the first day of every quarter (e.g., January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1).

 
  1. As reassignment opportunities become available, CFO2 will query the database and develop a list of interested candidates for the specific job series and location of the vacancy.  If on the list, a notification will be sent to those candidates with a request to submit a resume and other required documents directly to the hiring manager for consideration.
