Forecasting a Continuum of Environmental Threats (FACETs) is an evidence-based framework that modernizes the creation, communication, and dissemination of risk-based, probabilistic hazard information to inform effective response. The seven FACETs include: Grid-based threat probabilities, observations and guidance, the forecaster, threat grid tools, usable output, effective response, and verification.

The FACETs Paradigm is rigorously informed by the social, behavioral and economic sciences (SBES). Through this SBES research, FACETs is improving the efficacy and utility of model output, visualizations, graphics, and messaging. The result is improved risk-based decision making by emergency managers, emergency responders, schools, medical facilities and the general public. The FACETs framework includes development and application of superior model input, superior model output, products, services, and the alignment of the associated hardware, software, system viewers, forecaster process, and presentation of the hazard information.
