Content: Google Content
IFRAME Published Link in Web Content
The example to the right uses Web Content to house an iFrame clause, that points to a published google doc link. This is an alternative when the iframe portlet is acting up.
IFRAME Published Link
This example to the right is an iframe portlet with a published google document. It uses a published document link, which removes the full interface and displays *just* the document itself. This may also modify formatting a bit - see the document title compared to the instance below (where the link is a share link and not a published link).
Note that if you want to remove the portlet title bar (as in this example), once you change the Look and Feel Decoration to Barebone, you will also need to add a height definition to the iframe portlet Configuration CSS. The example here uses "height=300px".
This example has also added CSS to provide the border.
IFRAME Shared Link
This example to the right is an iframe portlet that is hosting a shared Google document link. Note that this is the full page, with all of the document editing functions available. It will also show you as the logged in user, if you are logged into Google when you access this page that hosts the IFRAME portlet.
What is Google Content?
In the context of VLab, Google Content refers to the ways in which VLab can integrate with Google content that is seated externally to VLab.
What is it good for?
Integrating Google Content with VLab Communities is useful when the dynamic, collaborative behaviors found in Google Drive (which are not available in Liferay) are needed by the VLab community. Using Google documents can be very convenient when there is a need to create a document (collaboratively or singularly) and have it readily available to others (especially for an agency like NOAA that already uses much of the suite of Google resources).
Specifically, Liferay provides for a way to integrate:
- Google Mail
- Google Calendar
- Google Drive (documents)
- Google Sites
How Do I Use It?
The VLab User Guide provides a general section regarding how to integrate Google resources into your community. More specific sections include how to integrate:
