RSS Aggregator - VLab Showcase
Content: RSS Aggregator
To the right is a single RSS Publisher portlet, with two feeds defined. You could just as easily use two portlets with one feed per.
Each of these feeds will update when their content managers create new articles. You can refresh the content of these feeds by reloading/refreshing this page.
What is RSS Aggregation?
An RSS Aggregator is a portlet that allows you to define multiple RSS feeds from web locations external to VLab.
An RSS feed (see wikipedia entry for details) allows for internet content from some other internet site to be displayed and accessed - similar to a simple link, except where a link is a static address, an RSS feed dynamically provides access to content.
RSS is often used to aggregate news articles.
What is it good for?
Because the Asset Publisher functions as an aggregator internal to VLab, the RSS Aggregator would apply to content external to VLab - for those sources that provide RSS access. Using the RSS Aggregator in VLab would be good for when your community wants tighter ties to some external web location that provides RSS feeds.
