Estimating Tornado Intensity in Real Time

68 participants joined the OPG virtually in July of 2022 for an evaluation focused on estimating tornado intensity in real time. We evaluated a methodology and associated web based tool designed by SPC (SPC Tool) based on published research which allows forecasters to estimate tornado intensity in real time based on a few inputs:
● Rotational velocity (Vrot)
● An environmental factor - the Effective Significant Tornado Parameter (STP)
● Population density (although we really did not leverage this variable during the test).
