Susan West is a Senior International Program Analyst in the NWS International Affairs Office.  She is responsible for NWS partnerships and international engagements with Europe, including members of the European Region (RAVI) of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).  She manages NWS bilateral and multilateral relationships with numerous European hydro-meteorological services and partner agencies, including the UK Met Office and ECMWF.  She also provides (European region) policy and staffing support to the NWS Director in his position as the Permanent Representative of the United States with the WMO. 

Ms. West’s portfolio also involves serving as liaison to the NESDIS International and Interagency Affairs office to coordinate on international space and satellite issues of interest to both NWS and NESDIS. 

Previously, Ms. West has worked for international offices at NASA, the US Department of Defense and the US State Department; as well as working for local government and environmental non-profit organizations in California.  From 2009-2010 she lived in Vancouver, Canada and worked as an Assistant Director of Security Integration for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

Ms. West has a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from the University of Washington with an emphasis in environmental policy.  She joined NWS IA in 2011; and first joined the federal government in 1997 as a Presidential Management Fellow.
