Ms. Jennifer Lewis serves as a Senior International Analyst in the NWS International Affairs Office and is responsible for NWS partnerships in the South Western Pacific Region (RAV) of the World Meteorological Organization to support the mission of providing weather, water, and climate data forecasts and warnings for the protection of life and property; and for the enhancement of the National economy. She manages NWS bilateral engagement with the Australian Bureau of Meteorology, the Indonesian Bureau of Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG), and the Chilean Navy.
Ms. Lewis's portfolio includes ocean policy and the coordination of NWS engagement with the UN Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC). She works extensively on NOAA's contributions to the global tsunami warning system and the UN Joint Technical Commission between the WMO and IOC. She also assists NOAA's National Data Buoy Center with international issues. Her passion is capacity building efforts and she has been engaged in a multitude of development projects with the small island states of the Pacific and the Caribbean.
Ms. Lewis completed a Project Management Certificate at George Washington University and earned Master's degrees in International Studies and Community and Regional Planning at the University of Oregon with an emphasis in international law and environmental policy, gender, and development. She joined NWS IA in 2002 under the Presidential Management Fellows Program.
