1. Greater Global Exposure of NOAA Climate Data:
a. Pixalytics --> Use EDR API Demonstrator to extract Climate Indices data to support drought use case
Note from Pixalytics Director
Hi Steve,
I wanted to thank you and confirm the NOAA Climate EDR API has been very useful within the OGC Climate Resilience Pilot activity. So, we’d like to continue interacting with it during the OGC Disaster Pilot, where we are further developing the Drought Severity Workflow. Attached are our summary slides from the OGC Member Meeting, where the API is explicitly mentioned on the second slide.
Within the Climate Pilot, we started work on visualising data in a time series from historical data to future scenarios; initial results for ECMWF/Canadian downscaled data are shown on slide 6, and we would like to expand this activity to include data from NOAA. Also, we are currently working on expanding the extraction of a point time series to a 2D time series and will include the API in the endpoints tested.
Best Wishes, Sam
Dr Samantha Lavender

b. Ecere --> Use EDR API Demonstrator to extract Climate Indices data to support wildfire use case
Note from Lead on Ecere Climate Pilot Work
Sadly so far our focus was more on the basics of achieving interoperability and improving our software support for 4D data cubes (spatial / temporal / pressure levels) , including supporting netCDF datasets.
Your EDR API was very useful in that regard and for testing our first try at an EDR Client however, so thank you very much again.
Now we are focusing more on the wildfire use case for the Disaster Pilot, for which we will be primarily working off sentinel-2 data for predicting vegetation fuel types, but may also incorporate climate datasets time-permitting, in which case we hope to use your API again to incorporate high resolution data and wide temporal range in the US in particular.
2. Value of the Climate Pilot study for NOAA:
a. Connection of Climate Data to OGC APIs
b. Climate Data and Analysis Ready Data (ARD)
c. Evaluation of the role AI/ML plays
3. Feedback on OGC EDR Climate Demonstrator as potential "Tier-1" CRIS Architecture
