IRIS - EF scale LSRs

We noticed that when we append the EF scale in an LSR for a tornado, the output in IRIS does not appear.  Is this a known issue in IRIS?

Thanks.

Hi Andy,

I'm looping in Greg Schoor on this email. I do see an issue with IRIS which stems to a situation some years ago in which we rectified some
inconsistencies between IRIS and the directive.

If you look at the directive (https://www.nws.noaa.gov/directives/sym/pd01005017curr.pdf), on the last page in Appendix B, it indicates that
an event magnitude is not included for a tornado. However, in the table on page 15, in the EMAG section, one of the examples is
EF4. I believe what happened is we changed the formatter to exclude the magnitude for tornadoes, but forgot to remove the selection
component, but it's ambiguous to me whether we should or should not be including it in the LSR product. Also, if we were to do so, what should the format
be? EEF2, MEF1, UEF1?

Thanks,
Matt

Matt,

I'd have to double-check on that myself.  Heading out on a survey right now.  We have typically added the EF rating once the survey is complete.  I thought it was for SPC purposes, but perhaps that has changed.
