WCOSS WCOSS is composed of primary and backup operational supercomputing systems, storage resources, wide area network, support services, and developmental computing systems. It supports:
•24x7 weather and climate forecasting capabilities
•Development of supercomputing capability including resources for the NOAA Hurricane Forecast Improvement Project activity
•Associated storage resources, dissemination of operational products using a wide area network, and support services
•Numerical environmental prediction model development and testing

National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) Central Operations Provides support for WCOSS including the software and infrastructure which forms the basis for predictions from NCEP Centers and Weather Forecast Offices through its Weather and Climate Computing Infrastructure Services (WCCIS) program. WCCIS provides the following services: •
•24x7 monitoring of NCEP Production suite
•24x7 system maintenance and administration service
•Transition models into operations
•Quality assurance of observations and products
•Software development for data processing, display, interaction, and product generation
•Supports on-demand requirements including dispersion forecasts
•Deploys and supports centralized dissemination systems for the Integrated Dissemination Program
