The NOAA CoastWatch Forum provides information in several categories.  The information is relevant to CoastWatch products and software (https://coastwatch.noaa.gov)  and vary in technical details.  For questions and issues not addressed here,  start a thread in the appropriate category or contact the CoastWatch HelpDesk (coastwatch.info@noaa.gov).  Please note our Privacy Policy (https://www.noaa.gov/privacy.html) and that this is a public forum.  All information is voluntarily and anonymous submissions are accepted pending review prior to posting.

    Every year, CoastWatch organizes satellite courses to familiarize NOAA/university researchers and students with different types of ocean satellite data, different tools, and teach participants how to use satellite data in their own research using their choice of software (R, python, ArcGIS).

  • CoastWatch Software & Utilities

    The CoastWatch Utilities software allows users to work with Earth science data created by the NOAA/NESDIS CoastWatch program. Users can easily manipulate and visualize data in CoastWatch HDF format, NOAA 1b, and NetCDF 4. The software has both graphical interface tools providing a point-and-click interface and command-line tools for use in batch data processing scripts.

  • Radar Altimetry Database System (RADS)

    The Radar Altimeter Database System (RADS) was developed by the Delft Institute for Earth-Oriented Space Research, the NOAA Laboratory for Satellite Altimetry, and EUMETSAT. Apart from actual altimeter data, RADS provides a suite of applications and subroutines that simplify the reading, editing and handling of data from various radar altimeters. Issues or questions related to these tools are discussed in this forum.
