NOAA computer and installing Panoply with Java

While I had prepped my computer before this week for R and those affiliated programs described in the syllabus - I had not yet tried to load/install Panoply w/ Java 9.0+. I am just sharing this note as I am now delayed (as others may be too) in doing any activities until I can connect with IT to get permission for these programs to be downloaded and installed on my NOAA computer.

If anyone else if having this issue - here's what I had to do to fix it and get it going.

With help from IT (needed to submit a help desk request), we had to find the Java 9 to download (with admin permission), and uninstall any older Javas (mine had 8). After that, Panoply could be executed and ran as it was supposed to. Took much longer than it should have to get this sorted out - but finally up and running.
