Jen Walsh - Course Project

Hi! I am interested in obtaining satellite chlorophyll data from the Southern Ocean and creating a map of that overlaid with krill density estimated from autonomous underwater gliders. I am VERY NEW to both types of data, but I'm hoping there's a way to average chlorophyll data over the time the gliders were deployed. Also, I don't know if this is a thing, but I'm wondering if satellite chlorophyll data is only chlorophyll a, or if there are data looking at different pigments so I can think about what groups of phytoplankton (diatoms, dinoflagellates, etc.) might be present where krill are abundant.

Just to update: on PolarWatch, I found Chlorophyll, NOAA VIIRS, Science Quality, Global, Level 3, monthly, which is what I think I'll use for chlorophyll.

Here are two maps of chlorophyll around the northern Antarctic Peninsula, created in R. The near-real-time map created from the NASA product appears to be a bit more detailed.
