Addressing bounding boxes data across the dateline when errdap is not set to 0-360

Looking at the NOAA CoastWatch, Sea Surface Height Anomalies from Altimetry, Global, 2017-
present, EXPERIMENTAL
and would like a bounding box between Lat 40-19 and long 121E- 150W (or based on 360 - 110-218. Do I need to make two bounding boxes for the data?

Hey Molly! not sure I understand. if that's just one region, one bounding box should be enough. Unless the resulting file would be too big for the server, but you will have to try it. What's your date range for this?

Hi Mel,

I was able to create a bounding box graph image from the Philippines to the dateline and from the dateline to Moorea but was not able to make it one image from the Philippines to Moorea because the longitude call for that errdap file is from -180 to 180. Assuming that the downloaded data will reflect these coordinates, I wasn't sure if this meant I would have to create two boxes of data or if there's a trick to make it one within the Philippines - Moorea longitudes. Does this make sense?

Ah I see. Can you send me a link to that ERDDAP dataset? to doublecheck?

Ok! So you're on the West Coast ERDDAP. On the OceanWatch ERDDAP, I transform the data to 0-360º to avoid this exact issue:
https://oceanwatch.pifsc.noaa.gov/erddap/griddap/noaa_sla_dt.graph

Unfortunately, I'm having issues with the near-real time data (2019-present) for this product, that I still need to figure out... If you need more recent data, you should use the west coast ERDDAP, and in that case, yes, you'll have to make 2 different bounding boxes and stitch it back together in R....

OK thanks. Yeah, I moved to the coastwatch site because oceanwatch was getting hammered there a wee while ago and I was getting proxy errors just trying to access the errdap page :).

haha, yes, everybody working at the same time might be stretching the bandwidth a bit....
