Here is a map of chlorophyll concentration in pelagic waters around the Hawaiian Islands during October 2017, a period when we had transmitting satellite tags on pelagic false killer whales.

I created a plot of Degree Heating Week across the Marianas Archipelago during a heating event using ERDDAP (Panoply not running because my machine does not have Java installed). The fact that you can share and alter the graph using the URL is pretty cool.

Well, my homework 1 results were not ideal. I tried to pull Chlorophyll-a data for Palmyra and Kingman Atolls. There were a lot of deprecated areas, to the point where chlorophyll data may not be present at the monthly level around my Islands of interest. The cumulative mean data set could be an option, but it won't allow for the temporal aspect that I desire for my Pacific Remote Islands. Also, the Islands don't show up on the map in Panoply. I'll have to play around with this more...any thoughts?

Hi Rebecca, yes chl-a data can be very gappy in regions with lots of clouds, unfortunately, especially at certain times of the year. Which product was this? I also can't tell the extent of the region from your map. There is a gap free chl-a product, but it's only available from 2018...

Ahh I see. Unfortunately I need to pull data from 2010, 2012, 2015, and 2018, so I could use your link of the gap free chl-a product for 2018, but likely not the previous years. Shoot!  I'm trying to work with the Pacific Remote Island Regions, so this map is suppose to encompass both Kingman Reef and Palmyra Atoll. I've re-created the map here to be more clear. Other Islands I'm interested in are Jarvis, Howland, and Baker Islands. I'll look into those and see if there are gaps as well for the same years listed above. Thank you for your response!
