Availability of WSUP map data display

The installation of GDAL on WCOSS2 this week was unsuccessful due to library dependencies. NCO is submitting an RFC to get the correct library installed on WCOSS2 compute nodes. We are hopeful this will be approved for installation the week of August 29.

MDL is continuing to work on WSUP v5.0, which among other things, includes a tool to simultaneously view NBM, NDFD, and RTMA/URMA maps over a common area centered on the cursor. We expect to release v5.0 soon after the installation of GDAL on WCOSS2 is complete.

Libraries necessary for GDAL to run on WCOSS2 were installed by NCO this week (8/29), but we are now experiencing issues with PMI that prevent us from running GDAL in parallel. NCO plans to look into our PMI issue tomorrow. When the cause of the PMI problem is identified, we will be able to better estimate how long it may take to resolve. We understand your frustration during this prolonged outage. MDL is doing everything possible to bring WSUP back as soon as possible.

We now have a fix in place to enable parallel processing with PMI. We will be attempting to restart WSUP map data processing on WCOSS2 this morning (Tuesday Sep 6).

NBM data for most elements is now available on the WSUP map display. NDFD and GFS maps should start posting later today. We are still waiting on software to be installed on WCOSS2 to support derived map elements and 1D.

Unfortunately, we do not have an estimate for when the software will be installed to restore service to the 1D viewer at this time.
