WSUPv4.2 1-D Viewer NBMv4.1 Probabilistic Snow and Ice?

Do the full 24, 48 and 72 hour percentile and exceedance probabilities only exist for the 07z and 13Z NBMv4.1 runs for snow and ice on the WSUPv4.2 1-D viewer. (whew....a lot of version numbers :) Thanks! We appreciate all you do to develop this resource for us.

Hi Patrick,

We love hearing from our users and appreciate the feedback! Those elements are available for the 01Z, 07Z, 13Z, and 19Z cycles (synoptic + 1 hr). Note that these require additional processing, so their availability is delayed by a few hours compared to the core elements (maxt, qpf06, wind speed, etc.).

Cheers,
Kevin

Kevin,

Thank you for the responsiveness! It makes sense to me, just so I know what to pass along to our staff. Thanks again and Merry Christmas!

As a tip, if you select a specific cycle hour from the drop-down menu, the Element Availability progress bar in the upper-right will tell you what percentage of the elements that should be available for that cycle are currently available. Any elements that aren't available are shown in a dimmed italic font in the element drop-down menus. Hovering over one of these elements will result in a tool-tip telling you which cycles the element is available for or whether it has yet to come in for the current cycle. Example:

Merry Christmas as well!

Kevin,

Great! The 1 and 6 hour snow accums are expert weighted correct (the non-probabilistic fields)? Thanks again and a Bless Advent too.

I'm not sure. I'll pose that question to the NBM team and get back to you.

The NBM team confirms that the non-probabilistic 1- and 6-hour snow accum elements are indeed expert weighted.

Finally, see slides 11 and 12 from this presentation if you're curious to know the actual weight values.
