An Example of a Blog in the Showcase Community
Imagine that I, some random internet person, is simply oozing with wisdom. And I like to share my wisdom in broad, patronizing strokes, like a king dispensing dried cow patties for fire-starters. I especially like conspiracy theories, because how can anybody challenge me on those, right? How should I dispense? My choices are far and wide on the internet. Luckily, there is good ol' standard.
Blogs can be frivolous, comedic, informative, scientific, spiritual, political or a puke-inducing mishmash of all of the above. The "blog", or "weblog", was designed in the pioneering days of the internet and grew in popularity in the late 1990s. Its intent was to be a recurring fount of discussion, with "posts" through time, each being its own "article" that can be digested like regular journalism (without the need for a pesky degree from some snooty college). The readers of each article can also leave comments, to tell the author either how incredibly stupid they are or incredibly smart they are. Readers can even give a thumbs up or thumbs down to declare which side of The Great Stupid/Smart Debate they are on.
Scientific blogs, dry and dull as they usually are, may be the focus of any blogs you find in NOAA VLab. We have all kinds of juicy topics spread throughout hundreds of communities, like things related to serving the public weather information, things related to the day-to-day of various projects, things intended to be consumed by users of giant software packages (either regarding how to use said giant software package or what said giant software package are supposed to do), and even blogs on how to use the various corners of the VLab universe.
So, don't be shy - come on down and give it a whirl - and drop a comment on this blog of blogs. Heck - you might like it so much you may even subscribe to it (so you can get email each and every time someone posts a new article or comment)!

What is Tag Navigation?
Tag Navigation presents all of the tags that are associated to content in your community in a list or cloud format. When a tag name is clicked, a separate Asset Publisher portlet (which is required) will list the resources that have been tagged with the tag clicked.
What is it good for?
Tag Navigation is useful when your community has a good amount of content (such as documents, web content, wiki, blog, etc) and you want an easy way for users to see the content in a categorized (aka "tagified") way.
How Do I Use It?
Place a Tag Navigation portlet or Tag Cloud portlet on the left side of a page and an Asset Publisher portlet on the right side of a page, on a page that has at least 2 columns. Configure the Asset Publisher to trigger off of Tags. (See the Asset Publisher section of the User Guide for details.)
