VLab Forum Members,

The February 2023 VLab Forum will occur on Thursday, the 23th, at 3:35 PM – 4:35 PM (Eastern Time). The talk features a presentation titled "AWIPS Cloud Projects" which is being presented by Scott Jacobs. We hope you can attend.

To participate in the forum, please register for the webinar.

Abstract:

The AWIPS Program has been evaluating the use of cloud resources for development and testing for the past 3 years. The first effort involved providing cloud instances to AWIPS developers for use during the peak of COVID. This allowed the developers to continue working from home. The same solution was applied to testing and training. The future brings new uses for the cloud, heading for a fully operational AWIPS running on cloud-based systems. The AWIPS software will be refactored to be orchestrated as microservices. The goal is to convert to a cloud-based operational AWIPS in late 2027.
