Responding to a New User Request

Hello V-LiSTers!

I'm posting this because I had to take a couple of minutes to figure out how to do this, so figured somebody else would be equally flumoxed and search for an answer.

I am a newly anointed "Community Administrator", and had two emails show up in my in-basket regarding New User requests for my community (it is marked as "Restricted" which means that it is publicly visible, with an invitation to join).  The email said:

Dear Joe Zajic,

There is a new membership request for the site PATRON from user Stephen Ambrose (stephen.ambrose@noaa.gov).

You are receiving this email because you are administrator of that site. Please use the sites administration tool in the portal to reply to this request.

The user added the following comments to the request:

----------
Please add me to this community
----------

Sincerely,
VLab Admin
VLab.Admin@noaa.gov
https://nws.weather.gov

of course, I had NO IDEA how to "use the sites administration tool..." and had to figure it out.  So, drum roll please, here is how:

1.  Use the "Go to" menu on the dockbar to select the "Control Panel"

2.  On the left-hand menu panel in the Control Panel, select the requested community.

3.  On the left-hand menu panel in the Control Panel, select the "Community Memberships" page.

4.  On the menu bar on the Community Memberships page, select "View Membership Requests".

The rest is pretty self-explanatory.  The new requests are under the "Pending" tab.  Click the "Respond" button on the request record that you are working.  You get to select "Approve" or "Deny" and send a nice text message with congratulations or apologies to the requestor.

Enjoy!
