All,
The ForecastBuilder Technical Working Group has released Version 10.7 of the ForecastBuilder software. This release contains several important updates:
- Simplifying the precipitation type process such that forecasters focus on the Wx<type> grids (prior they would have to also worry about modifying the Pot<type> grids)
- For mountain offices, ability to utilize NBM precipitation type with snow level "guardrails"
- Establish a structure for utilization at WPC (e.g. different configurations for desks)
- Many code changes to become more PEP8 compliant ahead of expected baselining in AWIPS
- Update install script to remove several no longer supported separate procedures, tools, weather element groups and color maps - also related to expected baselining in AWIPS.
- Allow utilization of RAP for smoke (default is HRRR)
- Some updates to the Blowing Snow code
- Re-implement time saving code as added checks for IdM related permissions have been included
Also a reminder that with ForecastBuilder v10.6 came the capability of creating WBGT. Note that extra configuration for WBGT is necessary beyond ForecastBuilder and that's detailed in a separate document.
For update and full installation instructions please refer to its section in the ForecastBuilder Documentation. It is strongly recommended to install tech order NH23-002 (NIC 12.4 release) before installing version 10.7. A quick training video also accompanies this release for forecasters. Additional training on the NBM p-type with SnowLevel method is available.
