ForecastBuilder v10.8 released

The ForecastBuilder Technical Working Group has released Version 10.8 of the ForecastBuilder software. This release contains several important updates:

  • Initial support for Alaska and Pacific Regions

  • WBGT fix - discovered reason for random 139 values. Fix now makes the WBGT tool on SCP and ForecastBuilder match with outputs.

  • Initial round of code fixes from Baseline code review - second round will come with the next release version 11

  • Will utilize TPI06 for thunder in the extended if NBM is chosen for thunder.  TPI06 is the 6 hour Thunderstorm Potential Index which scales up the 6 hour statistical thunderstorm probabilities to the 12 hour, resulting in values more useful to the forecast.  TPI06 is provided with the next NIC release (version 12.5).

  • Several minor bug fixes:

    • PoT grids are now saved

    • Fixed an issue impacting the time-saving code

    • Fix to a minor MaxApT/MinApT time range issue

  • Winter Weather updates:

    • Refinement to the NBM Ptype with SnowLevel percentiles method.

Installing this as an update is quick and easy, simply svn update, run the install and run the removeCaveData script.  For the full installation instructions please refer to its section in the ForecastBuilder Documentation.

New Winter training focused on utilizing NBM Precipitation Type in ForecastBuilder, along with the new SnowLevel as guardrails for mountain sites, will come in September.
