We have version 10.1 of forecast builder here at CAE and we've been
getting an error message running FB when using the edit area options.
Everything runs as expected up until the Weather Grid step when a
banner pops up with the message "At some points there is no
precipitation type defined, please re-run precipitation type
creation." Below are the steps we took to get this error:
- Selected the "ISC_Send_Area" edit area in GFE
- Opened Forecast builder, ran Steps 1 (Time Range) through 4
(Finalize) with all default options.
- Ran Ptype Accum Step with the "Edit Area to Use" set
to Current. This created ptype grids as expected using only the area
inside the edit area for all ptype grids. (pTypeAccumStep.png)
- Removed all Non precipitating grids in the next step.
- Ran Weather Grids Step with the "Edit Area to Use"
set to Current. This failed on grid #1 and gave an error message (weatherGridsStepError.png)
It seems like the weather grids step is still evaluating the ptype
grids outside of the edit area, seeing there is no weather type (all
ptype grids are 0 outside the edit area) and giving an error. To test
this, I toggled the edit area and set the potRain grid to 100 for the
remainder of the domain (potRainFilled.png). This allowed the Wx Grids
step to finish successfully.
