Adding Sprinkles/Flurries in FB

Hello,   I parsed through the forum and couldn't find this topic previously mentioned so I wanted to see if this was a needed fix for FB and it was designed this particular way. I noticed in several instances that when adding sprinkles/flurries in FB, if you are working on the forecast in the first 24 hours, there is no issue with the output wx grid being RW-- or SW-- with a 10-14 pop (depending on the pop you assign in the gui). However, past 24 hours in the extended period, if you attempt to add sprinkles or flurries using the same method, the output wx grid ends up being RW- or SW- for rain showers and snow showers. There are no pops mentioned in that particular time frame and yet it is still assigning a precipitating weather element to the grids?

I tried to replicate this error several times with different forecasters and received the same result. Is this something the team could look into? I could see this easily being overlooked when creating the forecast, resulting in showers being mentioned where there are no pops.
Thanks!

Hi Jennifer! I can also replicate this issue, though for me it only happens when I don't have top down grids. When I do have the full suite of top down grids (MaxTwAloft, ProbIcePresent, ProbRefreezeSleet) flurries correctly go to SW--, but when I do not have any of those grids, I get SW- instead of SW--.

All,

Just want to let you know I'm looking into this issue.  Like Joe I did not see the problem in the absence of top-down grids. Given that a try now with top-down grids.

All,

I'm trying hard to replicate the issue here and cannot. I've got top-down grids in place, tried PoP grids with values ranging from 10-60, and ranging 0-14.  Working on a time span from 24-48 hours out from current time.  I ensure to keep recreating Sprinkles/Flurries after every PoP adjustment and Wx is updating fine.

Can I get a little more details of how to recreate the issue?

Thanks!

Andy - I was seeing it the other way around. The problem of PoTFlurries merging to SW- instead of SW-- in the absence of top-down grids. (i.e. day 4-7)

I have no idea what's going on, as I tried to replicate it again and now I can't get flurries (SW--) to show up with any combination of top-down grids or no top down grids! BUT, when I manually just set my PoTFlurries grid to a solid value (73%), my GFE displays the weather type as a solid black where POP < 25%. Really weird looking, since the Wx values are both labeled the same (Likely SW-) but one is black versus blue, plus black doesn't appear in the legend (but three instances of Lkly SW- do). (Our GFE config uses solid colors for the wx grids, no patterns.) I included two screenshots, one with the values for various top-down elements also on the graphic.
