Sudheer Bhimireddy - Course project on Great Lakes

Hello all,

I am interested in studying the SST patterns over Great Lakes area in North America. My goal is to get: SST, Cloud information (cloud layers, cloud height, cloud top temperature, etc) over the Great Lakes during lake effect storm systems. In the past, I had worked with AVHRR imagery to study the SST variations along the long axis of Great Lake Ontario. I hope this course will improve my understanding and usage of satellite products.

Thank you

Sudheer

RE: Sudheer Bhimireddy - Course project on Great Lakes

After looking through ERDDAP datasets for Great Lakes, I could work with AVHRR Pathfinder Version 5.3 L3-Collated 1-day composite gridded data to see the seasonal variations of SST for each Great Lake during 1995-present. If possible, I would like to include the data from NDBC observations to see the differences from coast to coast across each Lake.

Ideally, I would like to see the diurnal variations of SST over the Great Lakes, but the data is available as a 1-day composite. If the daily variations/hourly means are available at some other place, I would like to work with that dataset.
