couple of NBM fields being created & distributed, but not on WSUP?

There are a couple of fields that we get in AWIPS & GFE, but are NOT on the WSUP viewer. For example on the Oceanic domain, there's no NBM PoP12, even though we get this in AWIPS & GFE. For the CONUS, there is a Max Reflectivity grid under aviation, but not in WSUP for Hawaii, even though we are getting a reflectivity grid from the NBM in AWIPS & GFE. I think there may be other fields which are being created, but not on the viewer.

Also, there are also some parameters that exist only under certain tabs (like probabilistic wind under Fire Wx), that are very applicable to aviation or surface as well. I don't think it would be bad to duplicate some of these parameters under different tabs where someone might logically look for them, although I understand not wanting to overly complicate the interface.

Thanks again for all the hard work on this!

Thanks Bob. We'll take a look and make sure we're displaying those grids.

You're correct that there are several weather elements that are applicable to multiple menus. We made the choice to not include them on every menu to keep them more manageable in size.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Hi Bob,

Thanks for bringing the issue with missing elements to our attention. Regarding Max Reflectivity, we were accidentally omitting that from the WSUP NBM Hawaii and Puerto Rico domains. This has been corrected (sample imagery). We were also accidentally omitting the Oceanic QPF Percentile Mean elements:

  • PQPF06 Mean
  • PQPF12 Mean
  • PQPF24 Mean

The Oceanic PoP elements are part of the QMD processing and are available in 6-hour and 12-hour versions (also for Alaska, CONUS, and Puerto Rico). These are now included in the Surface drop-down menu as QMD PoP06 and QMD PoP12.

Cheers,

Kevin
