Cloud Computing

The Office of Science and Technology Integration (OSTI) Modeling Program Division in collaboration with the NOAA Virtual Lab (VLab)’s cloud computing efforts sponsors an investment to promote the use of cloud infrastructure across all of its programs to accelerate ongoing development activities and to encourage experimentation with promising new and innovative technologies. All cloud allocations are typically made available on the NOAA Virtual Laboratory (VLab) Cloud within Amazon Web Services (AWS) that is managed by the OSTI Meteorological Development Laboratory (MDL).

The cloud allocations are specifically intended for projects that are supported by the OSTI Modeling Program’s various funding initiatives. In order to qualify for this funding the Principal Investigator must be already funded by the OSTI Modeling Program or be affiliated with NWS activities. PI and Co-PIs can be federal employees, or personnel from cooperative institutes, academia or private industry. The support will be solely for the cost associated with cloud infrastructure.

Please feel free to contact us at stim_cloud_proposals@noaa.gov if there are any questions.
