Here at PHI we have noticed some weird behavior in IRIS and I was
hoping to find out if anyone had any thoughts on this. When we issue a
PNS we have multiple points that come out as NULL Location. This
happens with locations (for example a COOP site) that we have added as
contacts in IRIS. It also happens only with PNS issuance, not LSR
issuance. After some digging from one of our meteorologists, he was
able to find the issue. For example, when adding Beltzville Dam he
initially didn't add a distance and location in the contact. When
doing this, he was able to replicate the null label in IRIS with PNSs.
When adding a distance from the reference point (e.g., 0 W Beltzville
Dam) the null went away.
Is there anything we are doing wrong here? Any possible workarounds?
We would prefer not to have a PNS say 0 W Beltzville Dam.
