Text Message Log?

Hi all-

Just curious if there's any sort of log of sent text messages that can be accessed by WFOs.  We're planning on using IRIS to send text briefings and weather notifications to some of our DSS events this summer, and it would be really helpful to be able to have a log of what was sent and when.  I don't expect this to be something we'd want to access on a daily basis, but something to have available in case there were concerns about our services.

Thanks!

Andy,

There should be a log you can view from within IRIS of all emails and text messages sent.  Open the Station Log perspective and then change the log history as needed to look back in time.

We notify Skywarn this way, and my cell is included so I can use that as a "log" of messages sent. Maybe include yours in each SMS text group?

Thanks, Alex

Andy, one important note about the text messaging feature is that it only supports one-way text messaging. Partners cannot respond to messages we send, and any replies to the text messages don't get any response saying that the message does not go to anyone. I had considered using this feature locally, but I didn't want to adopt this as a solution until IRIS can handle two-way text messaging. (I think this is in the works for IRIS/IMS?)

I should change my name to Andy for every reply!  We dont have an issue with that as they can communicate with each other in normal SMS or phone and this
is just faster way than email or calling several on the phone.
Thanks, Alex
