Good morning Matt and the VLAB group,

Thank you for your continued support and help with the IRIS software and helping Nick with his questions. 

I had a question about the response to the inquiry about issuing an LSR with a trace of freezing rain. In our CWA along with many others, a trace of freezing rain is the threshold for issuing a winter weather advisory. Given that tghreshold, the media interest and partner needs, I am confused about the policy that a trace of freezing rain cannot be sent out in an LSR. Can you provide more information on this? This is an issue that many offices are dealing with and I would like to follow up.

Hi Nick,

As of yesterday, it does work. Entering T for magnitude has been added to all places where a weather report can be input. However, note that you have to

save it to the Weather Reports table, not issue an LSR. This is because trace is only allowed in PNS and not in LSR per policy. From the Wx Reports/LSR, you can

select the reports you want and create a PNS.

However, the typical way of entering snow/ice/storm reports by right-clicking and dropping a pin, will not allow to enter trace amounts. You will get an alert to enter a magnitude of 0.1 or greater( Image 1). The only work around we have found is to enter trace amounts using the "Quick Report" method. When you enter "0.001" in the Quick Report it will input a "Value" of "T". (Image 2). 

Is there any other way to be able to add "T" through the simple click/drop a pin method of sending an LSR?
