Morning everyone,
The operational RTMA had a very difficult time capturing cold
temperatures across western Wyoming this morning. At the HADS site in
Bondurant -
https://www.wrh.noaa.gov/mesowest/timeseries.php?sid=BONW4&table=1&banner=off
- temperatures got down to -18/-19F between 13z-14z. Bondurant is
circled in red on all three images. And yes, the HADS site correlates
very well with the COOP observer in Bondurant.

#2 RTMA T grid at 13Z from RIW (BONW4 +6)
#3 Obs-RTMA TDiff grid at 13Z from RIW (BONW4 -24)
As you can see from the difference grid, there were many other locations
across Wyoming/Idaho/Utah/Colorado/Montana where the RTMA analysis was
10-15+ degrees warmer than the observations (blue areas).
At this time, I haven't seen the URMA analyses or the parallel RTMA/URMA
analyses.
