WSUP Viewer v4.5 was released on 04/04/2022. Please see version notes below.

New Features:

  • Map Display:

    • Custom Sample Points

      • Users may now add up to 100 custom sample points to the map

      • The tool is activated by clicking the location pin icon on the options menu bar to the right of the map

      • There are three methods for adding custom points:

        • Right-clicking on the map while the tool is displayed

        • Entering the latitude and longitude values using the form located in the tool

        • Importing a CSV file containing <latitude>,<longitude> values

      • The points are added to the URL and are thus retained when bookmarked or shared with other users

      • The “Font Size Delta” setting refers to the difference in font size between the Custom Sample Points and regular Sample Points

    • New basemap options

    • GIS Overlays:

      • Improved drawing of layers on map

      • New Cities and Roads layers without distortion

      • Ability to adjust line thickness of individual layers via a slider accessed by clicking on the GIS Overlay name.

      • Updated with latest NWS shapefiles:

        • Coastal Marine Zones

        • Counties

        • CWAs

        • Offshore Marine Zones

        • Public Zones

        • States

    • The structure of the Map Display URL has changed to accommodate improvements to the page. As a result, users may need to update their bookmarks to reflect these changes.

  • Point Vis and 1D:

    • The Export Image tool now facilitates sharing graphics with NOAA and non-NOAA partners via unique Amazon Cloud URLs that can be publicly accessed for 14 days. This capability was previously only available for Map Display images.

  • A new Projection Browser enables users to view tables of the cycle-specific forecast projections available for different datasets, domains, and elements. It’s accessible by clicking the clock icon on the options menu bar on the right side of the Map Display or by visiting https://wsup.mdl.nws.noaa.gov/projectionBrowser.

Bug Fixes:

  • User-selected locations are now labeled properly at the top of the 1D page
