WSUP Viewer v2.0 was released on August 28, 2020. Please see version notes below.

New Features:

  • Added Global Ensemble Forecast System (GEFS) as a dataset for CONUS, Alaska, and Pacific domains. This includes support for contours and wind barbs.

  • Added point visualizations for NBM component data and GEFS member data. These are viewed in new browser tabs by clicking on the map near your station of interest, or by using the magnifying glass in the top left corner of the map to search for the station.

  • Added total accumulation sums for NBM QPF06, SnowAmt06, and IceAccum06 (non-Oceanic domains) for easier comparison to NDFD total accumulations

  • Added contour option for NBM

  • Data overlay reveal sliders allow the user to set zoom resolutions above which sample points, contours, and wind barbs are displayed

  • Added feature that employs the second slider to quickly switch between vertical levels for GEFS. Double-clicking on a level loads all projections for that level (same as for categories)

  • Added NBM Guam domain

  • Projection menu is now closed by default to enlarge the map area. Users may optionally open and close the menu by clicking on the arrow next to the projection slider

  • Projection slider now contains day tick marks with the background color of each day section denoting imagery load status, from dark gray (0% loaded) to white (100% loaded)

  • Added responsive design feature which better matches the UI to the size of the browser on load and if resized

  • Added 2 GIS overlays: High Seas Marine Zones and Offshore Marine Zones

Bug Fixes:

  • The previously-selected projection is now retained upon an element change. The first projection now auto-displays upon a dataset, domain, date, or cycle change.

  • Clicking the green “Newer data is available” dialog in the upper-right now displays the newer data

  • Days lacking data are no longer selectable from the date picker

  • Hovering over unavailable elements in the dropdown menus now display the proper tooltip

Known Issues:

  • For NBM, the wind rose only contains data for components available for the selected forecast field, which may result in under-represented wind values
