Iris 6.8.1 Contact Uploader

I need some help understanding the contact upload.

We've primarily used ECLAIRs, but with the recent AWIPS build, we may not get that back. So I'm working to port what we do have over and update our existing contacts and other pieces of info to help us complete the transition.

I've found the formatter for the Contact Uploader and worked to adapt the list to it. But I keep getting an error at the partner status. I've checked and double-checked the "Not A Core Partner" or even attempted to make the Spotter a "Core Partner" to see if it would take. However, I get that same error claiming I have an invalid partner status. As far as I can tell, I have the commas delimited correctly for each column. Is there anything else that I could be missing? The "Importing Contacts Help" at the top of the page doesn't load, but that just seems to be a function of the ncep being dropped off as the URL is basically the same as the format one. I've put a screen capture of me putting in an ASOS contact and a generic person below.

Thanks in advance for any extra set of eyes!

Robert,

Are you just looking for contact management or do you need your contacts in IRIS for LSRs?

If it's for contact management, at this point I would strongly suggest you just make the jump to NWS Connect. As a contact manager it has more features than IRIS, and every office will need to be using Connect for contact management eventually anyway. The documentation is robust and the support is excellent - the #nws-connect-collaboration channel on Slack is active, and you're not alone on the contact import task. Documentation on importing - there's a great contact import tool/google sheet that makes it easy: https://docs.google.com/document/d/11Ok-VDFU_xthaQUABW_SfOOKGkGrhXfZWE03s9rlmwE/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.xm9n7shgp1ck

If this is for LSRs, then indeed IRIS is essentially the only option for sending LSRs right now. Connect will handle it... eventually. (Maybe years away... hopefully.) As for your question, check out the preformatted CSV available on the importing documentation: https://vlab.noaa.gov/web/iris/-/importing-exporting-contacts?selectedFolder=810362 That file might be helpful, and it would also be helpful if you can share the CSV you're uploading.

Great points, Joe.

Another option is to go into IRIS and export your existing contacts to CSV - that is another way to get the required file format.

Like Joe said, share your file with us and we will get it resolved.

Thanks both -

True! I can see a number of areas where my formatting isn't correct now. And I should just make the swap to NWS Connect. Thanks again.
