ForecastBuilder FireWx config Q

Hello,

 

I have got some of FWX working in FB but have ran into a few issues related to setting FB up for the use of our local smart tools and procedures. I tried following the config doc, https://docs.google.com/document/d/1okydeBX-JDbuCs2GiOLapf5JQK6q69uEy_gtUm38O2g/edit?tab=t.0 to no avail.

  1. Is there a list (like in the FB Config spreadsheet) on what varDict entries do what for FWX?
  2. For some reason VentRate loads in the populate step even though it is not listed in "Possible Fire Wx Grids From NBM" in our FB config. Any idea why or how to remove it (as we don't create that element at our WFO)?
  3. Do you have any examples showing how to set up FB config for a local FWX smarttool and procedure? FWIW, here is what I have so far (I'm getting a error when it comes to using the local finalize procedure).

I had a similar issue here with ventRate... I think to fix this I had to add this line:

 

varDict["Additional Fire Weather Parms to Possibly Populate in Step 2"] = ["MixHgt","TransWind"]

 

There are some good comments in the ForecastBuilderNationalConfig file that I found helpful.

Sorry for the delayed response...been dealing with historically busy weather the last couple weeks.

  1. Beside the configuring fire weather document you referenced, I would suggest checking out ForecastBuilderNationalConfig starting around line 2,800. 
  2. This should be fixed by removing VentRate from varDict["Additional Fire Weather Parms to Possibly Populate in Step 2"] or overriding the list. Possible ForecastBuilderConfig entry:
    1. varDict[ "Additional Fire Weather Parms to Possibly Populate in Step 2"].remove("VentRate")
  3. Check out that section of the ForecastBuilderNationalConfig for some examples. Alternatively, you can go into test-mode service backup for any office that you know of with similar tools already set up and view their config in localization perspective (click the 3-dot menu button in the File Browser window, then under "Show All" select "Sites". The finalize procedure you're using looks more complex than the smarttools or procedures that I have configured...any particular errors being given?
