Hi Kevin,
The 'Get AWIPS LSRs'
function reads LSRs that have been publicly issued and converts them
into the IRIS 'Weather Event' format, which is used internally to
create both LSRs and PNSs. It was put in place to ingest any reports
issued from the now defunct AWIPS LSR program. The problem with the
data loss yesterday is that it affected all data in the database
within the four-day period, including the ingested LSRs, public
reports, and the internal Weather Events, meaning there was nothing
for the Get AWIPS LSRs function to retrieve.
Thanks,
Matt
Hi, folks.
Can
someone describe to me the process IRIS uses to ingest AWIPS
LSRs? I wonder, specifically, whether retransmitting
LSRs in AWIPS which were already sent from IRIS would
allow them to be re-ingested into IRIS in the case of a
data loss such as occurred yesterday.
Yesterday's
IRIS failover and subsequent loss of data included the loss of
"Trained Spotter", "Official NWS Obs", and
"Public" LSRs. Repeatedly refreshing the page and
then using the "Get AWIPS LSRs" button didn't
have the desired effect. Only 1 LSR was retrieved that
way. If IRIS maintains its own database of LSR products
"from" AWIPS, that would make sense, and
retransmitting the previously sent LSRs would allow them
to be re-ingested into IRIS.
This
might be a suitable workaround when reports are lost.
