Davis observations

Good afternoon... we've recently noticed Davis observations showing up in our system, and our staff has been asking where they are originating from, and whether they are on par with the CWOP or APRS sites in terms of QC. Thanks for any insights out there...Craig

I think this network is comparable to APRS/CWOP. The main difference is that these are all Davis Wx Stations that are reporting, so there's more uniformity in that way.

Thanks,
Matt

As a Davis Instrument owner (DW0687), I can confirm that my data is making it into MADIS (thus into our AWIPS and likely IRIS) via APRS/CWOP. WeatherLink software on the PC allows you to send the data directly to CWOP. More commonly, Davis Instrument owners will send the data directly to WeatherLink.com which then gives the station owner the option to also share observations to CWOP, GLOVE, Weather Underground, and WOW.
