On May 23, 2020, MDL pushed version
1.0 of our
Whole Story Uncertainty &
Probabilities (WSUP) Viewer
to VLab production. The WSUP
prototype was developed to investigate the
feasibility of using the public cloud to visually
convey whole story uncertainty and probabilistic
forecast information to NWS forecast offices
nationwide that was previously only available on
supercomputers at the National Centers for
Environmental Prediction (NCEP).
Based on enhancement requests we have
gotten over the past three years, it appears the
WSUP viewer is now being employed by some offices
to provide probabilistic IDSS. As you know,
probabilistic IDSS is one of "Ken's 10"
priorities & actions for the future. If you or
your office have found WSUP useful for providing
probabilistic IDSS, please let us know how, so
that we can continue to explore the development of
capabilities that support this aspect of the viewer.
You can either send IDSS descriptions
directly to me, or post them to the WSUP
General Discussion
in the VLab
WSUP forum.
Thanks for your help on this.
