While it is the Thanksgiving Moratorium, when we come back out the latest ForecastBuilder release version 10.5 is now available to install. In this release we've made some updates based on feedback as well as other improvements. A couple of key highlights include:
- New tools added to the Precip Type step when working with NBM data
- Fixing an issue (mostly impacted CR offices) where the new feature in v10.4 of maintaining any grids edited within 3 hours would prevent WPC QPF from populating in the early cron (i.e. 0545Z/1745Z)
- Allowing the "Force Snow" option to also generate WxR grids based on the slider bar value
- Automatic detection if the NBM data flowing into GFE is v4.0 or v4.1 (impacts the way ForecastBuilder handles p-type)
- and more...
A brief training module has been developed for v10.5 and we recommend all forecasters run through it. The module has been added to the ForecastBuilder Training Plan, specifically to the Winter section as it mainly is focused on winter topics.
For the installation, be aware there are a few variable adjustments that may impact your ForecastBuilderConfig file. These are detailed in this step of the install.
As always I'd like to thank all those involved with ForecastBuilder for their support! If you have any questions feel free to e-mail nws.forecastbuilder@noaa.gov or post a note to the VLAB forum. Tickets for issues or features can be opened on our SCP page.
